I had been searching through the internet and statistical data to access various kind of information regarding the top selling cars based on particular country. But, most of the data showed that the Fuel Price Hiking Phenomenon was the major factor that drives buyer’s decision. So, check out this report.

INDIA
India is currently is one of the biggest car market in the world lead by US, Japan and China. But there’s no updated statistical data for top selling car in India. Based on report released by rediff.com, India’s most popular car is belong to the Maruti. The new released car by Maruti, Maruti Swift kicked the selling record by 200,000 cars had been sold in just 36 month (report until January, 2008).

JAPAN
Japan most popular car on 2008 is still belongs to the Suzuki Wagon R. The Wagon R captured the top slot for the fifth straight year on a first-half basis, according to the data compiled by the Japan Automobile Dealers Association and the Japan Mini Vehicles Association. Its sales totaled 113,999 units in January-June, 2008, down 6.5 pct from a year before.

CHINA

The end of year results for Chinese car models is surprising, despite the multitude of exciting new models launched into China in 2008, it seems that many Chinese are still preferring their older models such as the VW Santana and Jetta, as well as more basic models such as the QQ, and Xiali ranges. It seems the Corolla, and the BYD F3 which are very similar cars (if you catch our drift) are selling equally well, although a new version of the Corolla was launched in late 2008.
Regarding from the People’s Daily, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers recently announced the top 10 sedan models in regards to sales volume from January to November this year. They are, in order, Jetta, Santana, Excelle, Corolla, Accord, Camry, F3, QQ, Xiali and Elantra. Volkswagen Jetta sold more than 202,303 units adding to the report.

UNITED STATE
Honda Civic dominated the title of most selling car on 2008. Honda acclaimed that they never expect that Civic will be their top selling car. Also for the first time in 17 years, a Japanese car including Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and Corolla dominated the car selling market in US by atop US car manufacturers by 48.1%.

BRITAIN
The list of top ten best-selling cars in 2008 in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) was led by the Ford Focus. The Ford Focus (101,593 units sold) narrowly outsold the Vauxhall Corsa (99,574 units sold) in 2008 to remain Britain’s favorite passenger car for the eighth consecutive year. The Volkswagen Golf remained the most popular imported car in Britain.

GERMANY
